AllFun Fizzwell: a small climber in a woolly hat leaping between ledges inside a glowing well, with pink Fizz rising below
AllFun FizzwellAn endless climb, 30 challenges and a daily challenge.

What a climbing platformer is

A climbing platformer turns the usual platform game on its side: instead of running to the right, you jump upward from ledge to ledge, and the screen follows you up. Most add a reason to hurry, such as rising water, lava or a floor that falls away, so standing still is never safe. The skill is in movement: building speed, judging jumps and using every surface, walls included, to keep climbing.

Playing Fizzwell on AllFun

AllFun Fizzwell sends Bopsy, a round little climber, up an old well. Press and hold one side of the screen to run that way, and flick upward without letting go to jump. A keyboard works too: arrows or A and D to run, Space, W or the up arrow to jump. Underneath, a glowing pink sea called the Fizz begins to climb after you; touch it and the run ends.

The well passes through six zones, from Glow Grotto to Starlit Crown, then goes round again with narrower ledges. Besides the endless climb there are 30 challenges and a new daily challenge. Fizzwell is on our arcade games page.

The rules

Speed makes height

Running builds speed, and speed turns into height. In Fizzwell a jump from a standstill reaches about one ledge up; a jump at full running speed can carry you five ledges or more.

Walls

The sides of the well are not the end of a run. Strike a wall while airborne and it sends you back across with nearly all your speed; run into one on a ledge and most of that speed is gone.

The rising Fizz

The Fizz rises faster as you climb, and faster still when it has fallen far behind, so no lead lasts long enough to rest. If it catches you, one Continue per climb restarts you safely above it.

Flow and tricks

Flow multiplies your points, starting at ×1 and topping out at ×5, and every trick lifts it a step: a Rebound off a wall at speed, a Big leap of three ledges or more, a Drift landing on a swinging ledge, a Brink landing on a cracked one, or a Geyser ride on a fizz vent. Without a trick, Flow slips back one step every few seconds, and a fall of two ledges or more drops it to ×1.

Glints and Gates

Every zone has a glint quota, 14 in the first and more after that. Fill it and a Gate shows up just above you; pass through it to reach the next zone, and the Fizz drops back.

Six tips to climb higher

  1. Run before you jump. A jump from a standstill wastes height. Take a run along the ledge first, even a short one.
  2. Bounce, do not stop. Jump towards a wall at speed and let it throw you back across the well. A chain of wall bounces climbs faster than ledge-to-ledge hops.
  3. Keep the Flow alive. Points for height are multiplied by Flow, so a trick every few seconds is worth more than a careful climb.
  4. Land on the moving ledges. Swinging and cracked ledges look risky, but each landing is a trick. On a cracked one, jump again at once.
  5. Grab glints on the way. Do not stop for a glint far off your line; the Gate comes soon enough, and the Fizz does not wait.
  6. Use the bubbles. Air hop lets you jump once more mid-air, Glint pull draws glints in, and Chill freezes the Fizz for a few seconds.

Climbing game FAQ

How do I jump higher in Fizzwell?

Run first. Jump height grows with running speed, so a jump at full speed reaches several ledges up, and a wall bounce keeps that speed.

What happens when the Fizz catches me?

The run is over and your glints are paid out as coins, but you get one Continue per climb that drops you back above the Fizz.

What are the challenges?

Thirty timed goals, from a 60 m climb to opening a Gate or hitting Flow ×4. Finish faster for more stars, up to three.

Can I play Fizzwell on a computer?

Yes. Use the arrows or A and D to run and Space, W or the up arrow to jump; keep the jump key down to jump again on every landing.
