What Fishing is

AllFun Fishing, also called Glowtide, is an arcade fishing game. Under your boat a hook swings like a pendulum. Tap, and it shoots out the way it points, grabs the first thing it touches and reels it in. Every catch shows its points; score enough before time runs out to clear the level.

Playing Fishing on AllFun

AllFun Fishing has 40 levels in four seas: Sunny Lagoon, Coral Gardens, Shipwreck Bay and the Glowing Deep. Each level is a timed round, from 60 seconds in the first sea to 90 in the last, with a target score. Beat it to open the next level, and beat it by more for two or three stars. Deeper seas bring bigger, rarer and more valuable catches.

Tap anywhere to cast. On a computer, click, or press Space, Enter or the down arrow; P pauses. Three helper buttons, Net, Lightning and Double, come with two free uses each every day. Coins buy upgrades in the shop that last for good: faster hooks, stronger lines that reel heavy catches in quicker, and lures that bring golden fish and power-up bubbles more often. Each day also has a Catch of the day to hunt for a bonus, and a daily gift.

In two-player mode, choose Play Online or Play with a friend: both boats fish the same sea at the same time over three 90-second rounds, and the higher total wins. A game costs 40 play coins, and winning a level carries you on to the next within the same game.

How a round works

Casting and reeling

• The hook takes the first thing it touches, or comes back empty from the edge or the sea floor.
• While the hook is out, you cannot cast again. Heavy catches reel in slowly, so a big fish costs time as well as earning points.
• When time runs out, a catch already on its way up still counts.

What you can catch

• Small fish near the surface are worth 2 or 3 points. Mid-water fish such as the Silver Tuna and Moon Ray are worth 4 to 8, and big deep-water fish 9 to 14.
• Bosses glow and need more than one hit: the Reef Shark (25) and Whale Shark (32) take two hooks, the Sea Serpent (40) takes three.
• Twice a level the King Crab scuttles along the sea floor. Hook its shell for 35 points; its big claw pinches the hook away.
• Chests rest on the sand, from the Driftwood Chest (3) to the Gilded Chest (10). The Pearl Clam (7) can only be caught while it is open, and a Sunken Hoard (50) bursts into a shower of coins.

Power-ups, gifts and the bonus round

Bubbles drift up from the deep; hook one for a power-up. A Net makes your next cast catch everything around what it touches, Lightning strikes the richest lane and catches every fish in it, Double makes every catch count twice for 15 seconds, Fast reel reels in twice as fast for 12 seconds, and +5 s adds time. Floating gifts hold 20 coins, 20 extra seconds, a Lightning or a Net. Open three gifts in one round and a 20-second pirate bonus round begins: tap to fire at the pirate ships, then you return to your level.

Five tips for three stars

1. Time your cast. Watch the swing and tap a moment before the hook points at your target. It travels fast, so lead moving fish slightly.
2. Count points per second. A heavy 10-point catch can take as long as three quick small fish. Early in a round, chain the fast ones.
3. Never miss the King Crab. At 35 points it is worth more than most bosses. Aim for the shell, behind the claw.
4. Finish bosses quickly. A boss keeps swimming after the first hit. Cast again as soon as your hook is back, before it swims out of reach.
5. Pop bubbles on the way. A cast that passes through a power-up bubble pops it as it goes. A Net or Lightning can win a level by itself.
