Our street fighting game
Strike District is a side-view fighting game for short, punchy matches in the browser. The first to win two rounds takes the match. A round lasts 60 seconds: empty the other health bar, or have more health left when the clock runs out. A tied round is played again. Hits throw sparks and rings of light, heavy blows shake the screen, and nobody bleeds. The four fighters are grown-up city locals, drawn for this game.
How to play
- On a phone or tablet: the game plays sideways. The left buttons walk and jump (slide from an arrow onto jump to jump that way); the right ones are guard, jab, kick and special.
- On a computer: A and D or the arrow keys move, W or Up jumps, J jabs, K kicks, L or S guards, and I or Space fires the special. A left click jabs, a right click kicks, and a gamepad works too.
- Dash: tap a direction twice to dash in, or to hop back out of reach.
- Guard: hold it to block. A blocked hit costs only a sliver of health, and you can answer while the attacker recovers.
When a jab or a kick lands, press the next move at once and the hits chain: jab, jab, kick, then special, up to four hits. A hit that catches your rival winding up is a counter and does more. Fighting fills your energy bar; at 40 the special is ready.
A 2 player fighting game online
- Pick your fighter with the faces on the home screen.
- Tap Play with a friend, then Create the invite.
- Send the link with Share invite, Copy link or WhatsApp. Your friend opens it and lands in the fight, or types the code under Have a code? and taps Join.
You both fight at the same moment, each with your own buttons. If a connection drops, the fight waits; a player away for more than 30 seconds loses. After the match, tap Rematch. To meet someone new, tap Play Online.
Four fighters, six arenas
Mara Voss is the quickest; her Crosswind Rush closes the gap with a palm strike. Leon Arden has the longest reach, and his Harbor Drive sends a rival flying. Tessa Wren's Skyline Arc also catches fighters in the air. Niko Vale is slow but heavy, and his Anchor Break smashes through a guard. A special, a fourth chain hit or a hit in the air knocks a fighter down.
The arenas run from Amber Avenue at sunset and the Foundry Ring gym to the seaside Tidewalk, the Lantern Steps, the Skygarden roof and the Ironline Depot rail yard: lamps flicker, gulls cross the bay, petals fall.
Questions
Is Strike District free? Yes. Your first match is a free warm-up; after that a match uses 40 play coins, and every new player gets 800 coins to start. Coins are free and have no money value. How coins work.
Is it violent? It is a cartoon-style arcade fighter for teens and up: no blood, no gore.
Does it work on a phone? Yes. It plays in landscape with big touch buttons; held upright, the game turns itself.
Can I stop in the middle? A match against the computer is saved: tap Resume match on the home screen to go on. An online match goes on without a pause, and leaving it counts as a loss.
For a 3D arena shooter, try Cinderpoint; more games for two are on our two-player games page.
