Our baseball batting game
Skyshot Slugger is all about the best moment in baseball: the swing that sends the ball out of the park. You stand at the plate while the pitcher on the mound winds up and throws. Meet the ball at the right moment and it flies on a gold trail; if it clears the wall, the crowd jumps, fireworks go up and the scoreboard flashes HOME RUN.
There are no innings, no base running and no team to manage. Each challenge is ten pitches, and you need a set number of home runs before you run out of pitches or make three misses.
How to play
- Read the pitch: a card at the top shows what is coming, a fastball, a curveball that bends to one side or a dropper that dips, with its speed.
- Swing: tap the big Swing button, tap the field, or press Space or Enter. A ring over the plate closes as the ball arrives, and the marker on the timing bar reaches the gold at the right moment.
- Aim: before you swing, slide the aim to the left or right, or hold A and D (or the arrow keys) on a computer.
- Pause: the pause button, P or Esc. A challenge you leave is saved for Continue on the home screen.
The closer your swing is to the middle of the window, the harder and higher the ball flies. Each swing gets a word, Perfect, Solid, Early or Late, and all but Perfect show how many milliseconds you were off. Early swings pull the ball toward left field, late ones push it to the right, so the timing aims too.
Three ballparks, twelve challenges
Harbor Park sits by the sea at sunset; its wall is 94 metres away and each challenge needs two home runs. Redwood Field is ringed by giant trees, with the wall at 102 metres, three home runs to hit and a side wind. Skyline Stadium plays at night among lit towers: the wall at 110 metres, four home runs, quicker pitches and the wind the other way. Curveballs and droppers join the fastballs from the third challenge. Batting tips are in our home run guide.
Points, stars and coins
A home run scores 1,000 points plus 5 for every metre, 500 more for a perfect hit and up to 500 more for home runs in a row. A ball that stays in the park still scores 4 points a metre. A foul ball, a swing and a miss, or a pitch you let go by each cost one of your three misses.
Reach the target to win and open the next challenge. One home run more than the target gives two stars; three more with two perfect hits give three.
Questions
Is Skyshot Slugger free? Yes. A challenge costs 40 play coins from your AllFun coins, and when it ends you get one coin back for every 150 points, plus coins for new stars. The next challenge after a win is free. Play coins are not money.
How far can a ball go? A perfect swing can send it past 150 metres. To count as a home run it must stay fair and clear the top of the wall.
What if I run out of pitches or misses? The challenge ends; the end card shows your score and longest hit, and can give you 3 more pitches.
Does it work on a phone and a computer? Yes, in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with no download. On a phone you can choose Portrait or Landscape on the home screen.
