Our crossword

AllFun Crossword is a classic American-style crossword sized for a phone. The grid sits at the top, the clue for the word you are on sits just above the letter keys, and the whole puzzle fits on one screen with no zooming. On a computer you type on your own keyboard and the full Across and Down lists stay beside the grid.

Every puzzle was built for this game, and every clue was written by us, one plain clue and one trickier clue for each word. Easy puzzles use common words and plain clues, so they make good easy crossword puzzles for beginners; Hard puzzles bring in rarer words and clues with a twist; Medium mixes the two.

A free daily crossword

Tap Daily Crossword for today's puzzle. It is the same grid for every player and it grows through the week: a small 7×7 on Monday, 9×9 and 11×11 in the middle of the week, and a big 13×13 on Saturday and Sunday. The calendar marks every day you solved, counts your streak, and lets you go back and play the days you missed.

Quick crosswords and bigger grids

Open Puzzle packs to pick a size: Quick 5×5, Short 7×7, Classic 9×9, Big 11×11 or Grand 13×13. Each pack has 10 Easy, 10 Medium and 10 Hard puzzles, with your stars and best time on every one. A small crossword takes a few minutes; the 13×13 is a proper workout. A puzzle you leave keeps its letters, so you can come back to it later.

How to play

Pick a square: tap it and its word lights up. Tap it again to switch between Across and Down.
Type the answer: the cursor moves on by itself and jumps to the next clue when a word is full. The arrows beside the clue move to the previous or next clue.
Not sure? Turn on Pencil to type a light guess.
Need help? Check marks wrong letters in a square, a word or the whole puzzle; Reveal shows a square or a word. One of each is free in every puzzle, and a free bonus gives you more.
Finish: fill every square correctly. Solving with no help earns three stars.

Tips

Start with the short words and the fill-in-the-blank clues; they are usually the easiest way in.
Use the crossing words: one sure letter often gives away the word next to it.
A plural clue wants a plural answer, and a clue in the past tense wants a past-tense word.
Stuck on a corner? Leave it, solve elsewhere, and come back with fresh letters.
